I think your talking about the kyonshi. Though, they rarely have a talismen on them, if I recall correctly.
I have a habit of comparing them to vampires. Mostly because I'm reminded of the draugr of Norse myth.

they have their own zombies... but i think they have been replace with more modern ones (resident evil zombies or L4D zombies). if you ever see a picture of a green person with a paper taliman on their face, that's a japanese folklore zombie.

The well can actually be based off of anything. It's a matter of if you see the projectiles as plates (referencing Okiku's story) or coins (referencing the more global story of corrupted wishes).
As for the two zombies, I do admit that the drum does resemble a taiko, but the music was more like a general Pacific sound, so it can or can't be Japanese.
Zombies are somewhat global. I always thought of the zombies as a voodoo source. Though, I don't recall that many Japanese zombie tails. |
